You raise a good point on that (Also, I didn’t know there was a Emma/Belle ship. I must investigate that) If Rumbelle was handled that way, I feel like it’d be something involving the chipped cup.

I think I am one of the few people shipping it. I think the Ugly Duckling hints to Belle’s abuse since she left Rumpelstiltskin. It’s not saying she’s lacking beauty but that she’s been damaged. Thus she becomes ugly. Duckling has to do with Emma’s not feeling like she fits in. That she’s not really grown up yet. She’s still inexperienced when it comes to magic and family. That makes her a duckling.

Together they’re the Ugly Duckling because they’ve both been hurt by the ones they love and have gone so long without love. They’re both damaged. They’re both inexperienced. Belle to Storybrooke world and Emma to the Enchanted forest. They are both quite inexperienced in comparison to other people in things which makes them ducklings. 

I like Clumsy Limper for Belle and Rumpelstiltskin/Mr. Gold. Belle chipped the cup, she nearly got herself hurt when she fell from the ladder while she took down the curtains. Most of the big things about the relationships between Belle and Rumpelstiltskin have to do with Belle’s clumsiness. 

Rumpelstiltskin/Mr. Gold limps due to his leg. It’s just something about him that has to do with him being powerless. When he’s around Belle he’s likely to be more vulnerable. His physical vulnerability is his limp. Although before when he’s with Belle he doesn’t physically limp but he’s not exactly smooth with her. He’s very sort of careful on the road they’re going down, that road being their friendship and the potential of having a romantic relationship. He take things one step at time, more slowly, while Belle likes to go at quicker pace. 

I know not everyone would like this unspoken ship name I have for Rumpelstiltskin/Mr. Gold and Belle but I feel it suits them and tells us a bit about them and their nature. Not just their names tossed together.

I have a few other names for other ships. They’re just my personal ship names that I think of when I see them.
